My Trips to the Hospital

About Me

My Trips to the Hospital

Hi, I'm Cari. When I was a teenager, my best friend Claire's mom got cancer. I started offering to take Deb (the mom) to the hospital for her treatments to help give the family a break. They had all been in and out of the hospital so much, and since I'm basically family to them, it was nice to support Deb and Claire. Not to mention, I was able to learn a lot about different medical topics just be listening and watching while waiting in the hospital. It was fascinating. To everyone's joy, after a long and hard two years, Deb finally beat cancer! I decided to start this blog as a memorial to all those who have struggled with health problems and as a resource to for anyone who needs to know more about hospitals and treatments.

Massage Therapy Can Improve Your Mental Status

When it comes to good health, the focus is often placed on physical well-being. However, it is important to remember that an individual's emotional and mental well-being is just as important to pay attention to. Did you know that massage therapy treatments can help individuals manage stress and anxiety, which can help with their emotional and mental health? Learn why and how these treatments are so beneficial.

Mind-Body Correlation

There is a direct correlation between how your body feels and the state of your mind. When you feel good, your mood can improve, and you can automatically feel less stressed and anxious. Massage therapy aims to provide an individual with direct treatment that puts them into a state of relaxation.

As a result of this enhanced state, not only will your body feel more relaxed and at ease, but you might also feel less stressed when it comes to your thoughts. With regular therapy treatments, you might find that you are in a better mental state and deal less with stress and anxiety.

Pain Management

For some people, a tense mental state is related to a physical condition, particularly pain. Pain essentially causes complete chaos in the human body in that it causes stress throughout, which can even translate into a stressed mental state.

Massage therapy treatments involve targeted treatments that are intended to minimize pain and discomfort related to minor injuries. Over time, these targeted treatments can help reduce the pain associated with these injuries so that you feel better overall. For the best results, if you are experiencing pain, be sure to talk to a massage therapist about your concerns so that they can be addressed properly.

Dopamine Release

Massage therapy can also help improve an individual's mental state because these treatments are linked to the release of increased amounts of dopamine while decreasing the body's level of the stressor hormone cortisol.

Dopamine is a neurotransmitter with a very simple goal: to make you feel better. As you might imagine, the higher the level of this chemical in your bloodstream, the better you will feel physically and mentally. Remember that some drugs are designed to mimic increased levels of dopamine, but massage therapy presents a natural alternative.

If you deal with stress, anxiety, or anything else, do not overlook the benefit of therapy treatment. Contact a healthcare professional to learn more about what massage therapy treatment can do for you.
