My Trips to the Hospital

About Me

My Trips to the Hospital

Hi, I'm Cari. When I was a teenager, my best friend Claire's mom got cancer. I started offering to take Deb (the mom) to the hospital for her treatments to help give the family a break. They had all been in and out of the hospital so much, and since I'm basically family to them, it was nice to support Deb and Claire. Not to mention, I was able to learn a lot about different medical topics just be listening and watching while waiting in the hospital. It was fascinating. To everyone's joy, after a long and hard two years, Deb finally beat cancer! I decided to start this blog as a memorial to all those who have struggled with health problems and as a resource to for anyone who needs to know more about hospitals and treatments.

Factors To Help You Decide If You Should Purchase A Medicare Supplement Plan

Medicare can be confusing to seniors when the time comes for them to enroll, especially when they begin looking at supplement plans. If you are in this position and are not sure if you need a supplement plan, you may want to look at the following factors. These can help you decide if you should purchase a supplement plan now, or if you should wait to buy one.

You Have A Lot Of Health Problems

Medicare supplement plans are designed to help seniors save money, and most of these plans are extremely helpful for seniors that require a lot of medical care. If you currently do not have a supplement plan and have to visit the doctor or hospital frequently, you could accrue a lot of medical bills. This is because Medicare has limits on how much they will cover. If you purchase a supplement plan, the bills you receive for your healthcare visits will be lower, because the supplement insurance company will pay some of the bills that Medicare will not cover.

For people that are in great health and do not expect to visit a doctor or hospital often, getting a supplement plan right now may not be necessary; however, it might be something to look into in the future if your health changes.

You Plan To Travel Outside Of This Country

A second reason to consider purchasing a supplement plan right now is if you plan on traveling outside of the U.S. anytime soon. While your regular Medicare plan may offer some coverage for injuries or illnesses that occur while you are out of the country, there is a good chance an event like this could leave you with high medical bills you will have to pay out of your pocket.

If this is a concern you have, purchasing a supplement plan would be vital. Most supplement plans offer coverage for overseas traveling. By purchasing a plan for this, you would have fewer things to worry about when planning your trips. The important thing is to make sure you compare the supplement plans available to make sure you select one that offers this particular type of coverage.

There are many reasons to purchase supplement plans for your Medicare policy. Most of these plans have costs starting around $50 per month, and there are a number of different plans to choose from.
